The WPSC is a collective of like-minded folks promoting best practices in historic window restoration, preservation, and repair.

The Window Preservation Standards Collaborative (WPSC) was created in 2010 as part of an effort to promote the restoration, repair, maintenance, and preservation of historic wood and steel windows while raising awareness of the far reaching and detrimental impact the replacement window industry has on the integrity of historic buildings nationwide. The collaborative - consisting of several hundred restoration and preservation professionals, has worked to create, expand, and refine a set of national standards outlining best practices for the repair and weatherization of traditional sashes. These standards have been collated into a book, which is currently undergoing revision for its 2nd edition. 

THE WINDOW SUMMIT

The first Summit was held at Pine Mountain inJuly 2011. WPSC Founders demonstrated window restoration and weatherization methods while thirty-five advisors from across the country offered comments and suggestions and 15 invited observers watched and learned. Since these humble beginnings, the Window Summit at Pine Mountain Settlement School (Bledsoe, KY) has evolved into an inspiring and energizing educational, social, and professional event. The Summit included 5 magical days of lectures, roundtable discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on learning experiences. Weather you have restored 1000 windows or have yet to pick up a glazier's knife, the Summit is for EVERYONE with a passion for keeping historic windows where they belong - functioning beautifully in the buildings for which they were crafted!
