South Bend TradeWorks is a non-profit organization with a three part mission:
1.) Restore: collect and sell historic architetural salvage (fifty years or older) to the general public to support individuals, groups, contractors, etc. In having access to and options with finding appropriate materials for restoration and preservation projects.
2.) Preserve: organize and conduct deconstruction efforts on historic properties slated for demolition in an effort to reduce waste headed for the landfill and to extend the useful life of historic materials. This effort supports the salvage shop and our trades training programs. *we always promote preservation and restoration first, but when these are not availible options we seek to salvage second.
3.) Educate: with funds raised from our salvage shop and donations we host traditional building trades workshops for property owners to diy their preservation projects. Additionally our long term plan is to develop and sustain a traditional building trades school to educate contractors, students, and all persons seeking to learn a trade.
